As I explained in a post earlier this year about my inspiration to travel, I have long held an objective to go to 50 countries by the time I’m 50. At about 7pm local time on the 12th October 2016, I reached the target, by setting foot into Japan … some 14 months before I’m 50.
I’m personally extremely pleased that it was Japan as this country has been near the top of my list for such a long time. And so far, it hasn’t disappointed at all. We’ve done karaoke in Tokyo, a ryokan stay in Miyajima, a visit to the Hiroshima Peace Park, several shinkansen journeys and have been bowled over by the polite, openness of the Japanese people.
I’m also very pleased that the first person to congratulate me on reaching my goal was Jane.
We did our Japan adventure independently as part of a round the world trip. If escorted tours are more your thing, this trip with Titan Tours covers a similar itinerary:
Thrilled for you Nigel, well done. I can’t believe how quickly this trip is going for you two, have lots of fun xxxxxx
